Exemption Day Festivities!

It's the little things in life that make us the happiest!  Having a day without food rules was very exciting!  We were learning about the letter Mm sound so I thought it was very appropriate to sort and eat M&Ms on this special day!  We also had a huge bag of Twix, a bag of Starburst, Fudge Stripe Cookies, Cupcakes, Little Caesar's Pizza, Rice Krispy Treats, and Cheese Puffs and I almost forgot....we did have grapes with our pizza and a bottle of water!!  We really enjoyed our day and we didn't eat everything at once.  We paced ourselves!!!  Hooray for Exemption Days!!  The next one will be Halloween Day.  I must remind you that Halloween is on a Friday this year!  This is a teacher's dream!!!

Happy Early Halloween!!

We had our second star student of the week and boy did we have a great time learning about one of our friends!!  The children loved learning so many fascinating facts about their classmate!!  We had visits from grandparents, parents, brothers, and Carlos the Snake!  We were entertained by reading of books, playing the guitar and Carlos crawling all around the rug!!!  We learned interesting things about snakes!

It's great to have grandparents visit for fun and lunch!

Apple Fun

This past week we have been learning all about apples.  We read about Johnny Chapman Appleseed and lots of fiction and nonfiction books about apples.  The children brought in apples and we weighed them and measured the circumference.  We tasted red, yellow and green apples and graphed our favorite tasting apple.  The yellow apples were the most popular tasting apples and the green apples had the fewest votes.  We ate apple pie and had apple juice for snack one day.  We had a week of apple fun!!  Now we are ready for pumpkins!

Tasting red, green and yellow apples!!  The children loved the taste test!

Yummy apple pie and apple juice!!!

The girls are weighing their apples using counting bears.  Some of the apples weighed 35 bears and some weighed 70 bears.  We had a great variety of apples.

Here the children are measuring the circumference of the apple using ribbon and unifix cubes.
