 Grandparents Month in the Pine Palace! 

Our Grandparents Month is off to a wonderful start, and our first visit was an absolute BLAST! 

Each of our second graders gets to invite a grandparent—or several grandparents—to spend some special time with us in Room 102. Their mission? To take us back in time and tell us what school was like when THEY were in second grade! 

Our first visitors did not disappoint! They read us a couple of wonderful books, shared lots of funny and fascinating stories, and gave us a little peek into what life was like when they were children.  The students had so much fun listening, asking questions, and discovering that school has changed quite a bit over the years!

We are so thankful to our grandparents for taking time out of their busy schedules to share their memories and make special memories with us. 

One visit down and many more to go! We can't wait to welcome the rest of our wonderful grandparents to the Pine Palace this month.

College Colors Day!

College Colors Day at Pine Street School!

Our halls were bursting with school spirit for College Colors Day! 

There was LOTS of orange in the Pine Palace as our Clemson Tigers fans showed their Tiger pride!  And, of course, our Gamecock fans were proudly showing off their Garnet & Black!   We had some other colleges represented as well:  Wofford, Furman, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, and  Jacksonville University.   It was so much fun seeing our students and teachers dressed in their favorite college colors and cheering on their teams.

 A Sad Day in the Pine Palace 

Our classroom was a little quieter this week as we learned the sad news that Dolly Parton had passed away. The children were genuinely heartbroken. Many of them knew Dolly through her music, movies, Dollywood, or the books she helped put into the hands of children through her Imagination Library. 

We talked about how special it is when one person can bring joy, kindness, music, and books to so many people. Dolly certainly left the world a little brighter than she found it.

There were plenty of sad faces in Room 102 as we said goodbye to a true legend. But we reminded ourselves that the best way to remember someone we love is to keep sharing the joy and kindness they taught us.

A Wonderful Night at the Pine Palace!

What a wonderful evening we had at Open House! We were so excited to welcome our families into our classroom and share a little glimpse of all the learning, growing, and fun that happens in Room 102. 

We were thrilled to see such a great turnout of parents! It means so much to us when our families take the time to come, learn about our classroom, and be a part of their child’s second-grade adventure.

Our classroom was filled with smiles, questions, excitement, and lots of proud moments. We loved getting to share what we have planned for the year and all the wonderful things our second graders will be learning along the way.

A huge THANK YOU to all of our parents for showing up and supporting your children. When home and school work together, amazing things can happen!
