Collecting Cans for the 100th Day!

Our class collected over 100 cans for our 100th day of school celebration.  The cans will be donated to a local food pantry to help feed people in our community.  The children were so excited as they watched our cans grow each day!  We celebrated once we made it to 100 and we celebrated with other classes when they reached their goal of 100 cans!!  I am sharing a devotional that my friend wrote about the collecting of cans!

"Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality."  Romans 12:13

Clang those cans, and sing a song of joy!
We reached 100 days of school for all girls and boys!

To celebrate this milestone, students dressed up as 100 year-old people and collected can goods.  All classes set a goal of collecting 100 cans. As the cans stacked up, so did their excitement. The thrill in reaching 100 school days and 100 cans by the students can only be exceeded by the ones receiving the cans of food.
Good News, whether in words or actions, is more fulfilling when shared with others. It spreads goodwill, inspires hope, and creates unity.

When we care, we share... and others are helped.

Father, thank You, for opening our eyes and hearts to the needs of those around us.  May the spirit of giving continue the next 100 days, and the next, and the next, and the next, etc.

friend, we are loved and chosen by God,

Hip Hip Hooray For the 100th Day!

Hip Hip Hooray!  WE just celebrated our 100th day of school!  We are officially 100 days smarter!!  We had a great time celebrating this special day.  We made necklaces using 100 Froot Loops, we made a snack with 100 pieces of food, we wrote to 100, we colored a 100th day of school poster, we read a lot of books about the 100th day of school, we made "100 Days Smarter" hats and we ate cupcakes (lots of cupcakes)!!

Do you know how long it takes to make 100 cupcakes, put icing on them, add an M&M, and arrange them on a board in the shape of the number 100?  Forever, but they were delicious and we enjoyed them!!

A Sweet Star Enjoys Her Week!

We just ended a fun week with another star student.  This sweet little girl had a fun week that included lunch with her mom, dad, and grandparents.  She had a surprise visit from her big sister and she read our class a book (her sister was a former doodlebug).  She received beautiful flowers from her grandparents!  Her mom came and read our class a couple of books about penguins.  We ended the week with Krispy Kreme Donuts!!  Yum Yum!  We loved this special week with our special friend.  We are looking forward to our final star student next week!!!

Evening With The Arts: Down on the Farm

Our "Evening With The Arts" was a fun filled night!  Thank you to everyone that came out!  We had a huge turn out and it was great to see so many friends learning about our Artist in Residence.  We had Becky Becker and she did amazing things with puppets.  She is so creative and the children loved her!  Here are a few pics from that night!

Our puppet theme was; Down on the Farm!
